Arts Midwest – to support the Arts Midwest World Fest activities surrounding the visit of the Chinese ensemble Manhu to Red Wing, Minnesota, in October 2018. Manhu will spend a week in the community, conducting activities such as school workshops, master classes, lecture/demonstrations, and performances, including a public concert at the end of the week, that will engage audiences of all ages in Chinese music and culture. Building on the success of our previous Arts Midwest World Fest tours, which have featured Chinese ensembles Anda Union, Shanren, Beauty & Melody, and Tarim, Manhu will share songs, stories, and instruments from the Sani (Yi) culture in the Stone Forest region of Yunnan Province, China.

Bach Society of MN – to support the production of Bach and the Forbidden City, a concert program that will feature European Baroque music together with Chinese Classical and folk music. BSM will work with Chinese artists including Hong Gao, renowned pipa player, soprano Xu Qian, as well as the Minhua Chorus to promote mutual cultural understanding through these two great musical traditions.

History Theatre – Inspired by the success of The Paper Dreams of Harry Chin, History Theatre wishes to expand its educational repertoire and provide quality arts education through a SEATS TO STAGE art residency at Minnesota Yucai Chinese School located in Wayzata, MN. This grant will underwrite the attendance of Yucai students in the art residency and to help underwrite tickets to a main stage production at History Theatre.

Chinese Senior Citizens Society – to underwrite a pilot study on the need and feasibility of establishing a drop-in center for senior citizens.

Minnesota Chinese Dance Theater — to support the program for production of the MCDT Annual Concert of Rainbow Series 2018. The program starts from March to December 2018 at University of St Thomas. The students will perform at the MCDT Annual Concert of Rainbow Series 2018. The program objective is to support the community efforts to build harmony of diversified cultures and special events through Chinese dance. The concert will feature famous Chinese opera singer Fei Fei Shen from China and Chinese operatic tenor from California, together with many local artists.
